Pedagogy

The EMA(AME) programme is individual and career focused, built around real-world practices and experiences that connect with studies undertaken in the programme. Participant learning are to be applied into their professional work through experimenting, challenging and critically reflecting on applications of new knowledge and skills that could make a difference. The delivery methods cater specially to the professional working background of the participants as experienced managers. The pedagogical approach will include:

  1. guiding participants to develop research questions and acquire a habit of constant enquiry;
  2. developing participants’ research skills including contextual awareness, and analysis, selection and application of research methods, problem identification and creative problem solving, data analysis and interpretation;
  3. nurturing participants’ capacity for self-reflection and critique, including requiring participants to self direct their own learning process;
  4. encouraging peer-learning that builds on the insights and experiences of fellow participants;
  5. stimulating possibility thinking through brainstorming, out-of-the-box thinking and collaborative learning; and
  6. enabling participants to integrate their learning process with their professional work.
This programme strives to introduce a structured and disciplined approach to learning through metacognition, creative thinking and forward planning. The self-reflection and planning process will be guided by a personal tutor assigned to each participant. Graduates of the programme should become strong role models willing to be critical, reflective, creative and engaged with personal and organisational change.
