Case Study Approach

To ensure that the programme content has strong linkages with arts and cultural themes as well as current practices of the arts and cultural industries, case studies will be used throughout the programme. These include local and overseas real-life examples of arts /cultural management, group discussion on mock real-life scenarios and fully-written arts and cultural management cases. In addition, the majority of participants’ assignments will require participants to apply new knowledge and skills learned to real-life cultural enterprises.

Overseas Study Trip

A five-day study trip (Case Study in Arts Management and Cultural Contexts) to a spotlight city chosen by the course leader in the Asia-Pacific region (such as Singapore, Beijing, Melbourne, Seoul, Taipei) will be arranged. It comprises of visits to a range of key arts and cultural institutions in the spotlight city, supplemented by lectures conducted before and during the trip. In 2015, the EMA(AME) participants went to Taipei for their study trip.
